The Iran/America project is a collaborative platform facilitating engagement between scholars, educators, artists, filmmakers, and community organizers in the telling of the unique and multi-faceted story of Iranian-Americans. Between 2015 and 2018, the project produced a series of video interviews with Iranian Americans of varying ages, socioeconomic backgrounds, experiences of migration, religious and political viewpoints. We created a web-based public archive to share these interviews, and also produced a short film, “The Sky is the Same Color,” with interview footage. Currently, the project is on hiatus and not accepting submissions.
The Iran America project was made possible with support from California Humanities, a non-profit partner of the National Endowment for the Humanities. Visit www.calhum.org. The project has also received funding from the University Corporation in Monterey.
The stories we tell of our experiencing of the revolution, war, migration, and biculturalism to our grandchildren, children, friends, and colleagues weave together the patterns of our collective history. Help us preserve the shared recollections of this important period in Iranian-American history.
