Farzin was born in Iran to a religious family. He emigrated to Canada in the 1990s where he began a career as a software engineer. He currently lives in Monterey, California with his wife and two children. Since he has been in the US, his relationship to Islam has evolved.
“I competed with students in other schools to memorize the Qoran, those small verses of Qoran. Because I had a religious background, I liked to do those activities. I remember, there was a competition, and I won that competition. And my father bought me a Qoran, you know, the whole book. I was so happy to have that.
